Walking, Hiking and Sitting F.A.Q.

Training F.A.Q.

Q: Do you walk multiple dogs at the same time?

A: Pawsitively Perfect Pooches is a private walking service. We only walk dogs from single homes. We do offer small group hikes, which max at four dogs. But all of our 30 and 60-minute dog walks are private.

Q: Do you offer group walks at a discount?

A: At this time, we do not. Although we have occasionally been asked about this by neighbors who's dogs are already friends and have been able to work out an arrangement. We try to be as reasonable and accommodating as possible to our two-legged and four-legged clients.

Q: Can you just stop in for a few minutes for a lower price?

A: No, sorry, 30 minutes is our shortest visit. Please remember that travel time to and from a client's home is a big part of the equation and can often be a bigger time expense in Los Angeles then the time spent on the actual walk.

Q: Can I guarantee the same walker every time?

A: In general, we do not guarantee the same walker. You can certainly put out a request for a walker and we can check if they are available, but we still do not guarantee they'll be available. We always like to have a backup plan in place in case something comes up so we don't have to cancel. We keep our team very small and every walker is thoroughly training and very dog savvy and experienced.

Q: Can you feed my dog or give him medication?

A: Absolutely! Since PPP walks are private they are also completely customizable. While we are with your pooch we can do most anything, within reason. Some dogs do a mix of play time and walking outside, some have lunch or dinner and we've also had many older dogs that required special care or medication. Just ask and we should be able to make it work!

Q: What methods do you use?

A: We only use positive reinforcement training. We do use treats, praise and/or toys. All dogs are motivated by something, we just need to find what motivates your pooch the best. We do learn how to wean away from using treats at all times.

Q: What kind of collar should I use?

A: We use regular collars, martingales, easy walk harnesses, halti/gentle leaders, and sporn no pull harnesses. We don’t use choke chains or prong collars.

Q: Can we use a shock collar?

A: No, we don’t use shock collars ever. They are ineffective and can create many issues with a dog and their personality.

Q: Do you use bark collars?

A: Yes, if need be we use a citronella anti-bark collar. We try to teach alternative methods to get your dog to stop barking before using a citronella collar.

Q: What kind of treats do you use?

A: We never use any treats that have chicken as it is too common of an allergy. Usually, we use Ziwi Peak or Real Meats.

Q: Do I have to work with my dog as well?

A: Yes, it is recommended that you do 30 minutes a day.

Q: How long is a training session?

A: 60 minutes

Q: Do you have group classes?

A: Not at this time. We are working on a very exciting puppy socialization group. Please contact us if you're interested.

Q: How old does my puppy need to be to start training?

A: For privates your puppy can be 8 weeks. For group classes they should be 10 weeks and have had at least one set of shots.
